Enchanted Thoroughbreds is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and retraining Thoroughbred racehorses at risk of entering auctions, kill pens, or neglect situations.
Many Thoroughbreds leave the racing industry each year without a clear long-term plan. With proper medical care, rehabilitation, and patience, these horses can recover and move forward into safe homes or lifelong sanctuary.
At Enchanted Thoroughbreds, every horse is given the time, care, and compassion they need to heal and rediscover their value beyond the track.
Because every horse deserves safety, dignity, and a second chance.
Why Thoroughbreds Are at Risk
Thousands of Thoroughbreds are bred for racing each year. While many go on to successful careers, others retire early due to injury, financial circumstances, or lack of racing opportunity.
Without proper aftercare planning, some horses are sold through auctions or broker networks where they can become vulnerable to neglect or the slaughter pipeline.
Rescue organizations like Enchanted Thoroughbreds work to intercept these horses and give them the opportunity to recover, retrain, and find safe futures.
Adoption & Sanctuary
Some horses in our program go on to carefully selected adoptive homes after rehabilitation and training.
Others remain in lifelong sanctuary when adoption is not the right path for them. In these cases, sponsors help provide the care that keeps them safe and comfortable for the rest of their lives.
Transparency & Community
Transparency and community involvement are central to how our rescue operates.
Many supporters choose to donate supplies, materials, or professional services, allowing them to see exactly how their contributions help the horses and improve the rescue facility.

Potential Use: Companion / Groundwork / Possible Light Riding with Appropriate Training
Marvin is one of those horses who makes it very easy to fall in love with him. He is an incredibly gentle, sweet-natured gelding with a goofy personality and plenty of character. Marvin was bailed out of a kill pen and came to Enchanted Thoroughbreds nearly a year ago. Since then, we've had the opportunity to get to know him, evaluate his needs, and develop a plan for his future.
Marvin has bilateral OCD (osteochondritis dissecans) lesions of the stifles, with the right stifle being more significantly affected. His original veterinary evaluation recommended considering arthroscopic surgery. We subsequently sought a second veterinary opinion, and his current treatment recommendation is Noltrex® injections rather than surgery at this time.
Most importantly, Marvin's diagnosis does not mean his future is limited to simply standing in a pasture. Based on our second-opinion veterinary consultation, light riding may be possible in his future with appropriate management and the right trainer. We are looking for an adopter who understands that Marvin's development needs to be approached thoughtfully, without rushing him or placing expectations on him that his body isn't ready for.
Marvin would do best with someone who appreciates groundwork, relationship-building, and bringing a young horse along at his own pace. Any future riding should remain consistent with veterinary recommendations and his individual comfort and soundness.
His gentle temperament and absolute goofball personality are what make Marvin special. After everything he's been through, we'd love to see him find a knowledgeable home that sees his potential while also respecting his physical needs.
Medical disclosure: Marvin has a documented history of bilateral stifle OCD. Veterinary records and diagnostic imaging are available for review by serious, approved adopters. His long-term riding potential cannot be guaranteed and will depend upon his response to treatment, veterinary guidance, appropriate conditioning, and training.

Eternity
Senior Mare | Late Teens to 20s

Eternity is a truly special and unique mare who is looking for a home that will appreciate her for exactly who she is.
Eternity came to Enchanted Thoroughbreds after a private individual bailed several horses out of a kill pen. Like Ember, she was one of the horses who arrived in our care as a starvation case, and unfortunately, we have very little information about her life before coming to us.
Eternity has previously had one eye surgically removed. She retains vision in her remaining eye, although her eyesight is limited. Because of her visual impairment, we've spent considerable time helping her become more confident in her surroundings and improving her ground manners through patient, consistent handling. She has made tremendous progress.
Once Eternity learns that she can trust you, her personality completely shines through. She is incredibly sweet and becomes almost like a puppy dog—bonding closely with her person and happily following them wherever they go.
At this stage, we believe Eternity is in her late teens to 20s, although her exact age and history are unknown. We are continuing her veterinary evaluation, including additional bloodwork and observation, so that we can better understand her long-term needs.
We do not currently know whether Eternity has been ridden in the past or whether riding would be appropriate for her. She is therefore being offered strictly as a companion or retirement horse at this time. Our priority is finding her a safe, understanding home where there is no expectation that she needs to perform a job.
Because of her limited vision, Eternity's ideal home will be one that understands that visually impaired horses sometimes need additional time to learn new environments and develop trust. Consistency, patience, safe fencing, thoughtful introductions, and a dependable routine will be especially important for her.
Eternity doesn't need someone looking for what she can do for them. She needs someone who sees the value in simply giving a sweet senior horse a safe place to belong.
Medical & history disclosure: Eternity's complete history and exact age are unknown. She has had one eye removed and has limited vision in her remaining eye. She is undergoing continued veterinary evaluation, bloodwork, and observation. Additional information discovered during her evaluation will be disclosed to an approved adopter. She is currently being placed as a companion/retirement horse rather than a riding prospect.

Ember came to Enchanted Thoroughbreds after a private individual bailed several horses out of a kill pen. She was one of three horses who arrived in our care as starvation cases. Very little is known about her previous history or breeding, so much of Ember's story is still waiting to be written.
Since arriving, our focus has been on giving Ember a healthy foundation both physically and mentally. She has been introduced to positive handling, age-appropriate groundwork, light training, and new experiences designed to build her confidence without rushing her development. She has also spent time at one of our rehabilitation partner facilities for additional training and exposure.
At only seven months old, Ember is still very much a baby. We believe she is a Quarter Horse or Quarter Horse/Pony type, but without a known pedigree, we cannot predict her mature height or eventual build. Rather than choosing a future discipline for her now, our goal is to provide a strong foundation so that as she matures, her eventual adopter can continue her education and help her develop in the direction best suited to her.
We are not in a rush to place Ember. We would love to find her a wonderful permanent home, but finding the right match is much more important than finding one quickly. While Ember remains with Enchanted Thoroughbreds, her education will continue. She will receive additional age-appropriate groundwork, handling, training, and exposure so that the horse who leaves us has an even stronger foundation than the horse available today.
Ember does have an umbilical hernia that is currently being monitored. Based on veterinary guidance and her individual circumstances, we have elected not to pursue surgical correction at this time. It has remained stable in size and is not currently raising concerns. Ember will receive another evaluation, and her future adopter will be expected to continue monitoring it and consult with their veterinarian should it change in size, appearance, or become symptomatic.
Ember's ideal adopter will understand the commitment involved in raising and developing a young horse. She isn't being offered as a finished horse, nor are we making promises about what discipline she will eventually pursue. She is a young prospect with a thoughtfully started foundation, continued education ahead of her, and plenty of time to become the horse she's meant to be.
Medical & history disclosure: Ember's complete history, breeding, and expected mature height are unknown. She arrived as a starvation case and has an umbilical hernia currently being monitored. Available veterinary information will be provided to her approved adopter, and continued veterinary oversight is recommended.

This boy is such a gentleman. He has the kindest heart and soul! He does not work livestock, he would rather be by your side and see you Happy. He thrives everywhere, even in an apartment setting.

Dreyfuss- 3 Year Old- Collie x Shepard
This young chap is one awesome working cow dog!
Dreyfuss has an amazing work ethic, he lives to work, and absolutely loves working cows especially from horseback. He would be the perfect dog for a rancher, or at a sale barn pushing cows. He knows his basics with working livestock, but because we are a horse rescue and don't have cattle to work with him more often.
He is great with other dogs, horses, cats, chickens, and other livestock.
Super intelligent, and is on of the fastest learning dogs
House broke, can be left unsupervised for hours with no problems.
Thelma & Lewis
These kittens were born to a feral mother that we were able to safely trap after they were born. The kittens have been raised in our care, and their mom is currently in quarantine receiving veterinary care, vaccinations, and will be spayed before returning to her next step.
Adoption
- Adoption contract required.
- Enchanted Thoroughbreds Rescue & Sanctuary covers the cost of spay/neuter.
- Adopters are responsible for microchipping, completing the remaining vaccination schedule, and all future veterinary care.
Foster-to-Adopt
If you choose to foster-to-adopt, the rescue will cover the cost of vaccinations and spay/neuter while they remain in our foster program

Late-Teen Arabian Mare

Phoenix is an exceptionally sweet late-teen Arabian mare who came to Enchanted Thoroughbreds as part of the group of horses bailed out of a kill pen by a private citizen. She arrived in our care as a Level 2 starvation case, so her health and recovery have been our first priority.
Phoenix is currently still in the rehabilitation phase. We are carefully working to restore her to an appropriate body condition while monitoring her overall health, including her foundation, nutritional recovery, and gastrointestinal health throughout the refeeding process. She will continue to be evaluated as her condition improves.
And then there is Phoenix's personality—she is an absolute sweetheart. Gentle, affectionate, loving, and incredibly people-oriented, Phoenix genuinely enjoys human attention. She loves being cuddled, loved on, and spending time with her people.
Because Phoenix is still gaining weight, we are not asking her to work under saddle at this time. Once she has reached an appropriate and healthy body condition and we are comfortable that she is physically ready, we will begin evaluating her previous training and riding experience. Until that evaluation is completed, we aren't making assumptions about what she knows or what her future riding capabilities may be.
Phoenix will become available for adoption when we feel she is ready. Her profile will be updated as we learn more about her abilities, training, and long-term needs.
For now, Phoenix's only job is to heal, gain weight, and continue showing us who she is.
Medical & history disclosure: Phoenix's complete history and previous training are unknown. She arrived as a Level 2 starvation case and is currently undergoing nutritional rehabilitation and continued observation. Her suitability for riding has not yet been determined and will be evaluated only after she reaches an appropriate body condition and is considered ready for further assessment.
